My Obsession with Deadpool - The Struggle is Real

If you couldn't guess by the title of this post, I'm obsessed with Deadpool. It's the only movie I've ever seen three times in a theater, and if my schedule allowed I'd be back for more! I also have official Deadpool sweatpants, am getting tat of the logo, and am  trying to tell myself it's ok to spend money on a tank even though I don't really need it.

Now, you're probably thinking, 'it's just some sarcastic dude who kicks ass,' right? Well, he does, and let me tell you, that gets major approval points! But that isn't why I'm so obsessed. I love Deadpool because of the messages he sends and what can be learned from him.

That sounds weird. I know. But here's the thing, he shows us that no matter what horrible things we face in life, we can and should fight to overcome them. Instead of letting seemingly impossible situations beat us down and take us prisoner, stay strong and stand by your convictions. Fight for what you believe to be right. I don't mean to physically go all ninja and bust out your swords. I mean a mental fight. The moment you let the horrors of your situation convince you that you are nothing is the moment you fail.

He shows us to always give our maximum effort. Really look at our lives and situations. Are we truly giving our all? No matter what difficulties we face, always give our maximum effort. We might succeed, we might fail, but we'll know that we did everything we could.

He shows us that it's ok to ask for help. Here he is, a 'superhero' who essentially can't die, and he still recognizes that he needs the help of others. He is humble enough to know that he can't do everything himself. This is a challenge many of us face throughout our lives. We fear asking for help. But guess what, it doesn't make us less of a person or weaker. It makes us stronger.

He shows us that looks don't matter. He went on a hunt for Francis so his looks could be restored so Vanessa would still love him. But guess what, it didn't matter. It didn't change who he was. Regardless of his appearance, she still loved him. And that is something we can all learn from. Instead of being so caught up in the physical appearances of ourselves and others, we should focus more on who and what we are.

What do you think? Is Deadpool someone we could learn from? What are some things you took away from the movie or comics?
